The Walter van Beirendonck show at Espace Commines, was the most jubilant show of the season for me. Not only were the guests smiling and chatty, but the designs - inspired primarily by clouds - were enough to turn any frown upside down.
There were two standout items for me: the footwear and the gloves. The shoes, with matching woven fabric trousers, are exactly what I've been looking for to brighten up a grey suit and the gloves were delicately considered with patchwork geometry. As luck would have it, I stood beside the glove designer Thomasine at the beginning of the show so was given a verbal preview.
A lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon.
