Seeing the first images emerge from New York Fashion Week each season is always xciting. Ever since my first personal encounter at Bryant Park in 2007, I've been obsessed as New York has does wearable, sharp looks like no other city.
Last week I read an article on New York Times about the affects 9/11 had on designers at Fashion Week - of course, the last thing I recall about the event is that it was the height of the season. Since ss02 collections shown in 2001, the number of shows in New York has doubled to 250. It's a phenomenal number which is unfortunately often indicative of designers with more money than inspiration.
This season I've seen a number of collections which stand out and (for the purposes of this post) make a statement with colour. As we're leaving summer behind - yes, we had a summer - I'm drawn mostly to the fresh American sportswear in candy pastel tones that Carlos Campos, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Marlon Gobel showed.
In true spirit of fashion week inspiration, I instantly went to search for my perfect outfit. Although a little hasty for shorts - along with the fact that I rarely wear them - I love the vision of a long walk in the Hamptons next summer. A flight and time off are two things I'll have to contend with later.
